Apple TV+ to land on Sky Q and Sky Glass later this year

For Sky TV owners, the wait for Apple TV+ is nearly over. Sky and Apple have announced today that the streaming platform will make its way to both Sky Q and the newly launched Sky Glass later this year.

This news was revealed alongside updates about other Sky features coming to Apple devices. Here’s what we know.

When is Apple TV+ coming to Sky Q and Sky Glass?

Sky did not specify an exact date, only that it will be “in the coming months” (via Sky). As there’s not long left in the year, we suspect this means around December time.

What is Apple TV+?

Apple TV+ features some critically acclaimed shows, including the Emmy-sweeping sitcom Ted Lasso, and the gripping drama, The Morning Show. The streaming service joins apps such as Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video.

We don’t know yet whether you’ll be able to sign up directly on your TV, or if you’ll have to create an account on the Apple TV+ website. Accounts cost £4.99 per month on a rolling contract, but new customers can get a seven-day free trial.

In addition, if you purchase an Apple product (such as the iPhone 13), you may be entitled to an even longer free trial.

Sky Go and Now memberships come to Apple devices

Alongside this news, Sky also confirmed that in the first half of 2022, users with Apple TV devices will be able to download Sky Go. This is the app for existing Sky TV customers which will allow them to watch content on other devices besides the telly.

In addition, memberships for the Sky-owned flexible streaming service Now can also be bought on Apple devices (both with iOS and tvOS) via Apple’s in-app purchase – perfect for people who want all their subscriptions in one place.

Now offers monthly-rolling memberships for entertainment, cinema and sport that can be cancelled at any time. It’s the only place in the UK where you can watch the Friends Reunion special and the Justice League Snyder Cut.

All this news comes after Sky launched its first TV in the UK, Sky Glass, which is currently rolling out orders to customers across the country.
