What’s new with the 2021 MacBook Pro 14in and 16in?
The new 14in and 16in MacBook Pro offer a significant change compared to their predecessors; as well as the 13.3in model jumping to 14.2in, the new range sport smaller bezels and a 120Hz Super Retina XDR display with HDR support, the return of ports including HDMI, an SD Card Reader and even the beloved MagSafe, and the next-gen Apple Silicon chips.
In a surprise move, there isn’t one but two new Apple Silicon chips; the M1 Pro and M1 Max. The M1 Pro offers an impressive upgrade over the M1, with up to 10 CPU cores and 16 GPU cores, while the M1 Max offers the very best performance Apple has to offer, with the same 10 CPU cores and a whopping 32 GPU cores.
When combined with up to 64GB of Unified Memory, the MacBook Pro has the potential to provide serious computing power.
It hasn’t come at a cost to battery life either, with Apple quoting a 17-hour battery life for the MacBook Pro 14in, while the MacBook Pro 16in offers the best battery life of any Mac to date with an impressive 21 hours.
