During tonight’s Made by Google event, we’ve seen Pixel 9 phones, the Pixel Watch 3, and even a pair of new headphones from Google. Pixel Buds Pro 2 are Google’s first headphones designed to work with Google’s AI services.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 are equipped with the Tensor A1 chip, which improves the headphones’ active noise cancellation. They will now stop twice as much unwanted noise from being heard vs the Pixel Buds Pro, and the Pixel Buds Pro 2 can now also stop a wider range of noise, including traffic noise and conversations in coffee shops.
Like the new Pixel 9 Pro mobiles, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 is equipped with Gemini Live. You can ask questions directly to your AI assistant, the chatbot will answer directly in your headphones.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are smaller and lighter than their predecessors, but should still fit securely in your ears. The headphones have earbuds in four different sizes to offer the best possible fit.
If you happen to lose your Pixel Buds Pro 2, you can now easily track them on Google’s ‘Find My Device’ network. The case now also has a speaker to make it easier to find the headphones if they fall between the sofa cushions, for example – just follow the ringtone to find them.
The battery in the Pixel Buds Pro 2 should last for 8 hours if you have active noise cancellation running, with charging in the case you can get up to 30 hours of extra playtime with noise cancellation.
If you switch off the noise cancelling, the battery in the headphones will last for 12 hours, and the case will give you 48 hours of battery life. Five minutes of charging time should give you 1.5 hours of listening time with noise cancelling turned off.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 will be available in four colours, Porcelain, Hazel, Wintergreen and Peony, when they go on sale on 26 September. The headphones will cost .
