How to watch Jungle Cruise in the UK and US

After numerous delays due to the pandemic, the long-awaited Jungle Cruise finally has a confirmed release date for this year.

Starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Emily Blunt, this comedy-adventure film is based on the popular ride at the Disney theme parks – joining similar adaptations such as The Haunted Mansion and all of the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

We’ve rounded up everything you need to know about watching this film both in cinemas and at home. We also have similar articles for Black Widow and The Suicide Squad.

When does Jungle Cruise release?

Jungle Cruise will release on 30 July 2021 – just a few weeks after the Marvel hit Black Widow comes out. If you’d like a taste of what’s to come, take a look at the official trailer below:

Will Jungle Cruise release in cinemas?

Yes – by the time Jungle Cruise comes out, cinemas will have opened in both the US and UK, as well as other countries across the globe. Therefore, Disney has confirmed that the film will be getting a theatrical release.

In the UK, you’ll be able to pre-order your tickets from the likes of Vue, Odeon, Cineworld and Showcase. In the US, you can get them from AMC and Fandango.

However, if you’d prefer to watch Jungle Cruise from the comfort of your own home, then that’s also possible.

Will Jungle Cruise release on Disney Plus?

Jungle Cruise is another film that will be coming to Disney Plus Premiere Access, as confirmed by Dwayne Johnson himself.

Disney+ Premiere Access is a one-off payment on top of an existing Disney+ subscription to give viewers a way to watch films that under normal circumstances would only be available in theatres.

Films that have released via this method cost £19.99 in the UK, and US$29.99 in the US.

If you’re not already subscribed to Disney+, you can do so on the website. An account costs £7.99/$7.99 per month, or £79.90/$79.99 per year at the time of writing.

Here’s what you’ll need to do on 30 July to watch Jungle Cruise at home:

  • Sign into your Disney+ account and head to the homepage
  • Click on Jungle Cruise
  • Click ‘Get Premiere Access’
  • Confirm it is an additional purchase, and that you’re happy to billed extra

Will Jungle Cruise release on VOD services and DVD?

After the film has finished its run in cinemas and on Disney Plus Premiere Access, it will eventually come to VOD services and DVD – but there may be quite a wait.

It’s worth noting that Mulan eventually became available to watch in the Disney Plus library at no extra cost for subscribers – so Jungle Cruise may do the exact same.
