After a false start in March that cost one over-confident leaker his eyebrows following a bet gone wrong, Apple has finally announced its first product launch event for 2021.

The April 2021 event is tipped to feature a new iPad Pro model – certainly hinted at by the invite graphic – but fans are also hoping to see a new Apple TV device and the long-awaited AirTags Bluetooth trackers.

So, when does it kick off, and how can you watch the whole thing live? We cover all you need to know about the Apple April event right here.  

When is the next Apple event? 

As confirmed by the tech giant, the next Apple event is due to take place Tuesday 20 April 2021 at 10am PST, or 6pm GMT for those of us tuning in from the UK. As ever, it’s set to be broadcast from Apple Park in California, and it’s likely that it’ll be a combination of pre-recorded and live presentations like with the company’s late 2020 events.  

How can I watch the next Apple event live? 

Just like virtually every other Apple event, you’ll be able to watch the action unfold in real-time. While Apple once required the use of Safari or an Apple product to watch its livestreams, it has dropped the barriers in recent years, allowing basically anybody on any device to tune in to its events via the Apple website. 

You’ll be able to watch the April Event via the Apple Event website, but you’ll also be able to watch it via the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac, and you’ll also be able to tune in to the announcement via its  too.

What should I expect from the April Apple event?

With the tagline ‘Spring loaded.’ Apple is keeping it coy as to what we should expect from the next event.

The sketched apple illustration definitely plays into rumours that the company is about to launch a 2021 iPad Pro, rumoured to feature a new processor, 5G support, and Mini LED display.

Alongside the iPad Pro we’re hoping for a new Apple TV box, which has been rumoured for years. Again, a new chipset looks likely, along with upgraded storage – both features intended to make it a better piece of kit for Apple Arcade.

Finally, Apple’s Tile competitor – dubbed AirTags – may make an appearance at Apple’s April event following a no-show at its 2020 events. The AirTags were leaked repeatedly last year, and seem to have been delayed again and again, so we’re still unsure if Apple is ready to unveil them or not.
