When awards season rolls around, they don’t come any bigger than the Oscars, which is the de facto gold standard for Hollywood’s best movies.
We’re all used to spending the next morning arguing about who should have won what, but the really committed will try to watch the Academy Awards live – though if you want to watch the Oscars in the UK you might be in for a late night.
We’ve rounded up everything you need to know about the 2022 event including the hosts, nominees, how to stream the event and more.
How to watch the Oscars nominations
The nominees for the 94th Academy Awards will be announced today, 8 February 2022, at the following times:
- 1:18 pm GMT
- 5:18am PST
- 8:18am. EST
- 9:18 pm CST

Currently, some of the favourite films to be considered for numerous awards are Belfast, The Power of the Dog, Dune, West Side Story and Tick…Tick…Boom!.
Some of the biggest films of 2021 have also been put up for consideration for Best Picture, including No Time to Die and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
When are the 2022 Oscars?
The 2022 Academy Awards are currently scheduled to be held in Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on Sunday 27 March 2022 at 8pm ET/5pm PT/1am GMT (28 March). It will be broadcast on TV and around the world.
Like last year, eligibility for the Oscars has changed to accommodate for COVID, with digital releases being considered for awards. Typically the show only considers films that have been released in theatres, but if they did that this year there wouldn’t be enough titles to fill all the nomination slots.
Which channel is the Oscars on?
If you’re in the US, the Oscars will air on ABC.
In the UK, Sky Cinema will typically air the event on the sub-channel Sky Cinema Oscars, starting with the red carpet coverage and then the entire awards ceremony. This is often followed up with a highlights reel on Sky Max.

How to watch the Oscars online
US viewers who won’t be near a TV have an easy option – head to the to stream the whole show live or watch it through the .
If you’re in the UK and don’t have a Sky account, or would simply rather stream the Oscars ceremony than watch it on TV, all of Sky’s coverage be streamed online through .

Who is hosting the 2022 Oscars?
The Academy hasn’t yet confirmed who will be hosting the awards. Last year The Oscars did not have a set host, with The Academy relying on the various celebrities that present each award to serve as hosts, rather than have a single figure run proceedings.
However, this year there will be a singular host. The current rumoured favourites and Tom Holland and Pete Davidson – we’ll likely hear more closer to the ceremony date.
