Nubia has revealed when it will announce its next flagship smartphone, the Nubia Z80 Ultra.
The company has taken to Weibo to reveal that it will unveil the Nubia Z80 Ultra on 22 October at 2pm China time.
We also get a good look at the Nubia Z80 Ultra’s design, which appears to be a lightly refined version of the Nubia Z70 Ultra (pictured below). Colour options will include Light White, Phantom Black, and the company’s signature Starry Sky Collector’s Edition, inspired by Van Gogh’s famous painting.
The company also revealed that a new “professional photography kit” (via machine translation) will be included in the announcement, which appears to surround the phone in a Leica-inspired housing.

Nubia Z80 Ultra specs
Sure enough, photography is going to be an area of interest with the phone. Expect a 1/1.3-inch Omnivision 990 main camera, a new 1/1.55-inch ultra-wide camera, and an OIS-assisted telephoto camera capable of a 50x hybrid zoom.
The latter will also be capable of capturing 15cm ultra-close telephoto macro shots, with the company posting several close-up wildlife image samples.
It’ll run on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, with Nubia often one of the first to market with the latest Qualcomm chip.
We’re also expecting Nubia to stick with the same elevated 144Hz OLED display as last year’s model. These initial snaps suggest that company is sticking with its under-display selfie camera.
In my experience, that leads to a pleasant unobstructed viewing experience, but terrible selfies. Here’s hoping Nubia has managed to address that.
We don’t have pricing yet, but the Nubia Z70 Ultra started from just £649 when it launched last year. In other words, the Nubia Z80 Ultra is very likely to be significantly cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, all while outgunning it in the performance and battery stakes.
