OnePlus Nord 2T joins the Nord CE 2 Lite & Nord Buds in Europe

OnePlus has confirmed its next internationally released mid-range smartphone will be the OnePlus Nord 2T 5G.

The phone is set to launch in Europe along with the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G and the OnePlus Nord Buds. All three will be revealed as part of an event called ‘Speed Games’, taking place on 19 May.

The company says the Nord 2T is “an upgraded version of the flagship essentials that powered the much-loved OnePlus Nord 2 5G”.

The Nord 2 is a firm favourite at Tech Advisor and currently still resides at the top of our best mid-range phones chart.

The Nord 2T looks like a return to OnePlus’ habit of releasing updated versions of phones and slapping a ‘T’ on the end; much like how Apple used to release iPhone ‘S’ versions. Both those conventions used to be for flagship phones though, so it’s interesting that OnePlus is opting for a Nord 2T, rather than hopping straight to the Nord 3.

The phone will have 80W SuperVOOC charging, meaning its wired charging speeds are the same as can be found in the OnePlus 10 Pro and Oppo Find X5 Pro. Both Oppo and OnePlus are owned by BBK Group, and OnePlus phones now use the Oppo’s ‘VOOC’ branding for their charging in place of the previous Warp charging.

OnePlus also said it will soon launch the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G, a phone that’s a handful to say but should be an affordable one to buy. It’s already out in the Indian market and boasts a Snapdragon 695 chipset and 6.59in 120Hz LCD.

Also already launched in India are the Nord Buds, which are the first audio product amidst OnePlus’ mid-range Nord lineup. The company says they will have an “affordable price tag” (in India, they’re priced at ₹2,999, which approximately converts to £30/€40/US$40).

The Speed Games event will run on OnePlus’ YouTube channel on 19 May at 4pm CEST (3pm BST), hinting at a possible release or announcement of the full information for all three products.
