- Camera spec rumour suggests big changes
- New, larger main sensor
- Only one telephoto camera
The Oppo Find X9 Pro has had its camera specs leaked, and it’s shaping up to be quite the departure from its flagship smartphone predecessor.
Tipster Yogesh Brar has posted a brief rundown of the camera set-up for the forthcoming Oppo Find X9 Pro.
Apparently, it’ll be led by a 50MP Sony LYT-828 main sensor, backed by a 200MP Samsung HP5 3x telephoto and a 50MP Samsung JN5 ultra-wide.
There’ll be another 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor around front on selfie duty.
Find X9 Pro camera change-up
This marks quite a change from last year’s Oppo Find X8 Pro, which is a brave move. We labelled that flagship phone’s camera set-up “Awesome” in our review, so it’s risky to rip things up and start again.
That’s exactly what Oppo appears to be doing here. The Find X8 Pro might have also been led by a 50MP sensor, but it was an older Sony LYT808 measuring 1/1.4”. Thankfully, the new Sony LYT-828 of the X9 Pro is a larger 1/1.28” unit, so should be better at sucking up light.
It’s looking like a straight upgrade on the main sensor, but the Find X9 Pro’s telephoto camera isn’t quite so simple. Last year’s Find X8 Pro gave us two telephoto cameras – a 50MP 3x and a 50MP 6x.

We’re getting just the one this time around, and it lacks the previous model’s reach at just 3x. Evidently Oppo will be using all those extra pixels (it’s 200MP, remember) to crop in. Will the results stack up?
The only shared camera element here appears to be the 50MP Samsung JN5 ultra-wide. Last year’s Find X8 Pro used a 32MP selfie camera, with the Find X9 Pro getting a 50MP replacement.
Oppo makes really good flagship camera phones, so we’re intrigued to see how the Find X9 Pro pans out.
This might not even be the outstanding spec for the phone, with previous leaks suggesting that there’ll be a huge 7000mAh battery onboard.
