Microsoft revealed a wide range of new hardware at its September 2021 event, but arguably the most exciting was the Surface Pro 8.
The company’s latest flagship 2-in-1 was years in the making, combining a long-awaited redesign with a bigger 120Hz display and improved battery life. An increase to the starting price reflects that – you’ll now pay at least £999/$1099.99 when buying full price.
Fortunately, the Pro 8 has been frequently discounted in the months since its release. This January, it’s possible to buy the device for significantly less than its RRP. Here’s everything you need to know.

When did the Surface Pro 8 go on sale?
After being announced on 22 September, the Pro 8 went on sale in the US on 5 October. UK customers had to wait until 28 October, but it’s available in several countries around the world now.
In India, the Pro 8 is available to pre-order via Microsoft website, although a specific release date is yet to be confirmed.
The Surface Pro 8 for Business, complete with optional 4G LTE, then became available on 11 January 2022.

Microsoft has done away with the Core i3 entry-level model, bumping it up to the Core i5. The starting price also gets a £100/$100 bump compared to the equivalent Core i5 Surface Pro 7 model.
There are loads of Surface Pro 8 for Business configurations to choose from. These start at the same £999/$1099.99 as the regular version, but you’ll pay at least £1,209/$1,299.99 for a model with 4G LTE.
