There’s now a full trailer for The Bad Batch

Whilst we may be a way off until the next live-action Star Wars show debuts on Disney Plus, there’s an upcoming animated series to get excited about.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch is due to air in the Spring, and will build on some of the major plotlines and characters that we’ve seen in the animated series, The Clone Wars. If you’d like to know more about this show – such as the release date, cast and trailers – then keep on reading. We also have similar articles for Rangers of the New Republic and The Mandalorian season 3.

When does The Bad Batch release?

Mark your calendars, because Star Wars: The Bad Batch will be releasing on Tuesday 4 May 2021 – AKA Star Wars day (May the Fourth be with you).

The series premiere will be 70 minutes long. After that, new episodes will drop every Friday starting on 7 May 2021. We assume that these will be a little shorter than the first episode.

Who are the cast and crew?

Not too much is known about the voice cast so far. All we know is that former Clone Wars voice actor Dee Bradley Baker will be returning – we assume to voice the likes of Wrecker, Tech, Crosshair, Hunter and Echo.

The trailer appeared to show Fennec Shand from The Mandalorian and the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett  – the character is played Ming-Na Wen.

Behind the camera, we have Jennifer Corbett serving as the head writer and executive producer. Corbett has previously worked on NCIS and Golden Boy. She will be joined by Brad Rau as supervising director and executive producer, Josh Rimes as producer, Dave Filoni and Athena Portillo as executive producers, Carrie Beck as co-executive producer and Lucasfilm acting as the production company.

What is the plot of The Bad Batch?

Now that The Clone Wars animated series has officially finished, Star Wars: The Bad Batch will act as a follow-up to the show.

It centres around the elite and experimental clone soldiers called The Bad Batch (AKA Clone Force 99), who are trying to adapt to life in the galaxy after the events of the Clone War during the Imperial Era.

Each member of the Batch has their own ‘singular exceptional skill’, which make them a force to be reckoned with in battle during mercenary missions. Characters in the group include Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Crosshair and Echo. The trailer also showed that the group will be taking a young apprentice with them.

Whilst that’s everything which has officially been revealed, many Star Wars fans are speculating that we may see the return of popular characters from The Clone Wars such as Ahsoka Tano and Rex. It could also be possible that this show will continue to tie-in with some of the live-action series – just as The Clone Wars did.
