Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun, and stars Tom Cruise as Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell as he reluctantly returns to the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program. There, he trains a group of young recruits, including the son of his late best friend.

When is Top Gun: Maverick available to stream?
Top Gun: Maverick does not yet have a firm release date for streaming. According to Hollywood expert , this may depend on Tom Cruise and what he negotiates with Paramount, considering the ongoing theatrical success.
Typically, Paramount’s window to streaming after first releasing a film in cinemas is 120 days. Top Gun: Maverick released on 27 May 2022, so that would put the home release around the end of September 2022. However, Paramount may push for earlier for extra home release revenue, or alternatively delay due to the film still constantly bringing in money via the box office.

This streaming platform has been available in the US since spring 2021 and costs $4.99 per month for ad-supported viewing, and $9.99 per month for ad-free. Again, no firm release date has been given for the VOD release of Top Gun: Maverick. However, we do know that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (another big flick from Paramount) released around a similar time on VOD as it did on Paramount+ in the US – therefore we also expect Top Gun: Maverick to hit VOD stores around fall 2022.

When does Top Gun: Maverick release on DVD/Blu-ray?
Like the streaming and VOD release dates, we don’t yet know when Top Gun: Maverick will be available on DVD/Blu-ray. We do know that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is due to be released on DVD at the beginning of August, around two and a half months after the streaming release.
If Top Gun: Maverick follows this pattern, and if the film releases digitally in September, we would see it become available on DVD/Blu-ray around December 2022. Of course, this is just speculation.
