Where to buy Sony’s new colourful PS5 console covers

After months of speculation – and in the case of dBrand, a cease and desist – Sony has finally revealed its own range of new colourful console covers for the PlayStation 5. With five new colour options set for release in early 2022, it’s finally time to jazz up the look of the black-and-white console – and Sony is also releasing new DualSense colour options to match.

Which new colour options are coming to PS5?

Sony has revealed five new colour options for the PS5, bringing the total number to six if you include the original white finish, and the company is releasing a range of matching DualSense controllers to match.

To recap, here are the new PS5 console cover colours:

White (Original)
Midnight Black
Cosmic Red
Galactic Purple
Nova Pink
Starlight Blue

The new colourful console colours are available to buy separately at launch, but we imagine Sony will begin selling the PS5 in different colour options once stock levels of the next-gen console improve.

When will the official PS5 console covers be released?

As confirmed by Sony, the new PS5 console covers will be available to buy at retailers beginning February 2022, but it’s set to be a staggered launch. You’ll be able to first buy the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red console covers, with the remaining Galactic Purple, Nova Pink and Starlight Blue plates currently scheduled for release later in 2022.

If you are interested in the Midnight Black or Cosmic Red faceplates, you’ll be able to pick them up starting 18 February 2022 from participating retailers in the UK, US and other regions worldwide – although that date could vary by location.

If you’re in the UK, US, France or Germany, you’ll be able to get your hands on them a little earlier via PlayStation Direct, Sony’s direct-to-consumer online store. Both the Midnight Black and Cosmic red will be available to buy at on 21 January 2022, but with limited stock, it’ll likely sell out quickly so you’ll have to be fast.

How much will the new PS5 console covers cost?

While Sony has revealed the new PS5 console covers and matching DualSense controllers, what we don’t yet know is how much these will cost.
