Xiaomi Poco X4 – what you need to know

The Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC was a phone that impressed us with its decent specs, performance and attractive price. New leaks and rumours suggest that the new Poco X4 could arrive soon, with a few different models in the range getting the 2022 treatment. Here’s all we know so far about the Xiaomi Poco X4.

When will the Xiaomi Poco X4 be released?

We don’t have an official release date yet, but is reporting that it has received tips that the new model will make its debut in the first quarter of 2022. Xiaomi also plans to update the Poco X4 NFC’s stablemates, so at some point we’ll also see the Poco X4 Pro and Poco X4 GT arrive to replace their predecessors.

GSMArena states that the Poco X4 will launch in India without NFC and that the Poco X4 GT won’t make it to the sub-continent at all, but the Pro will be available there on its release.

How much will the Xiaomi Poco X4 cost?

As with the release date, there are no details from Xiaomi about what the new phones will cost. We can, of course, look to the previous line-up to give ourselves some clues about the prices.

If Xiaomi stays steady at the wheel, then the prices will hopefully remain as they are above. We may see some increases though, as the worldwide processors shortage and covid disruptions to the supply chain are beginning to have an effect on the ticket price of products across the tech industry.

We’d expect any rises to be minimal though. Fingers crossed.

What new features will we see in the Xiaomi Poco X4?

There have been reports from Xiaomi specialists that the Poco X4 will essentially be the same as the recently announced Redmi Note 11 Pro.

If this is true, then you can expect the following specs:

  • 6.67in Super AMOLED 120Hz 1080p display

We can’t confirm whether this is the true specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi Poco X4, so we’ll keep searching for more leaks and updating this article as more details come to light. As a reference, here are the Poco X3 NFC’s specs:

You’ll notice that the processor choice for the Poco X3 NFC was a Qualcomm Snapdragon, while the rumoured X4 one will be a MediaTek Dimensity. Xiaomi does use MediaTek processors for some of its Redmi range, so maybe the global shortage could be forcing a decision to switch to the brand of the Poco X4 or of course it could be that the rumours are wrong.

Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
