Facebook has a tool to delete your phone number from its database: How it works | Digit

You might need to be aware that Meta, the parent company of Facebook, could have your contact details even when you choose not to share them. For example, it can happen if a contact in your friend list has shared their address book with the social networking website and they have your contact details saved. However, a tool can help you escape this. A data deletion tool is available on Facebook, allowing users to search for their information in the Meta database and delete it. According to Insider, Facebook made this feature accessible in May 2022 without any public announcement, and that’s why we were unaware of the tool until date.

As Insider states, the link to the hidden tool is disguised in the 780 words support article on the Facebook Help Center. So if you click that link, it will take you to the secret tool, and you can search if Meta has your details; if yes, delete it, and if no, you have nothing to worry about. In addition, meta will also allow you to add your details to the block list so that Facebook cannot upload them in the future again.

How can you delete your phone number from Facebook?

  1. Visit Facebook’s contact removal page in your browser.
  2. Choose the contact information you want to search for in Meta’s database (mobile number, landline phone number, or email address), and click Next.
  3. Enter the phone number or email address you want Meta to look for, and then choose to search on Facebook, Messenger, or Instagram.
  4. You’ll get a confirmation code on your mobile phone or email.
  5. Meta will then ask if you want it to delete and block the phone number or email address from its address book database. Click Confirm if you’re ready.
