Initiated in 1997, Fallout is one of the most popular post-apocalyptic game series. The retro-futuristic tale spans decades and centuries after the atomic cataclysm that destroyed the Earth. Soon, gamers and non-gamers alike will have the opportunity to delve into the world of Fallout, as Amazon Prime Video is creating a TV show based on the franchise.
Following the success of series like The Last of Us, Arcane and Halo, another adaptation of a popular game comes as no surprise. Amazon acquired the rights to Fallout in 2020 and entrusted the series to Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, with their company Kilter Films. The choice seems well-thought-out, considering the duo previously created the futuristic series Westworld for HBO.
In addition to Nolan, Joy, and Athena Wickham from Kilter Films, the executive producer for the show is Todd Howard, who directed several games in the Fallout franchise. The executive team is supported by James Altman from Bethesda Softworks.
The showrunners for the series are Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner, who also work as writers and executive producers on the project.
